What is Chess Online?

Chess Online is a digital version of the classic strategy board game played between two opponents. The objective is to checkmate the opponent's king by placing it under threat of capture that cannot be escaped. Our online chess games are powered by smart AI, immersive graphics, and flexible features that adapt to your skill level and preferences.

You can play against the computer, challenge friends, or explore creative variations—all from the comfort of your device. It’s chess, but with modern flair and convenience.

Rules of Chess: A Quick Refresher

Chess is played on an 8x8 grid with 16 pieces per player:

  • 1 King

  • 1 Queen

  • 2 Rooks

  • 2 Bishops

  • 2 Knights

  • 8 Pawns

Each piece moves uniquely:

  • Pawns move forward but capture diagonally.

  • Knights move in an L-shape.

  • Bishops move diagonally.

  • Rooks move in straight lines.

  • Queens combine rook and bishop movement.

  • Kings move one square in any direction.

The game ends in checkmate when the king is in a position to be captured (in check) and no legal moves can remove the threat.
